MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) produces images of internal body structures using a large magnetic field and a computer system to create images. Our high-field strength magnet, provides superior images in the shortest possible scan time.

CT (Computed Tomography) uses advanced spiral scan technology to rapidly image thin sections of the body. Our newest addition is a 64-slice scanner. This scanner delivers high-resolution advanced-imaging techniques for cardiac, neuro, pulmonary, trauma and orthopaedic applications.

Ultrasound is a medical procedure that uses sound waves to visualize internal structures. This imaging modality supports obstetrics, gynecology, vascular, surgical and trauma services at Bayfront. Bayfront is proud to be one of the first hospitals on the West Coast of Florida to bring the technology of 4-D Ultrasound: 3-D images with the added dimension of time.

Diagnostic Radiology Procedures, including basic X-rays (chest, extremities), are performed on a walk-in basis. We also support Bayfront’s surgical suites and emergency department. Nuclear Medicine equipment is capable of performing nuclear medicine images such as heart, lung, thyroid and bone scans. Small amounts of radioactive material are injected for these types of procedures.

Interventional Radiology (IR) uses X-rays, CT, ultrasound and other imaging to advance catheters and needles into the body to nonsurgically treat at the source of a disease.

Interventional Neuroradiology/Neurodiagnostics (INR) Bayfront has two board-certified interventional neuroradiologists, ensuring coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year for stroke, aneurysm and vascular care. Both specialists are seasoned practitioners with a wealth of experience in all aspects of interventional neuroradiology and have played important roles in the development of the field. The service is integrated into the Bayfront Institute of Neurosciences to provide state-of-the-art care for stroke, brain aneurysms, vascular malformations, vascular tumors, and vascular trauma. The multidisciplinary components of the Institute also include 24/7/365 availability of technology and specially trained professionals in neurology, neurosurgery, and neurointensive care, with a dedicated Neuro-intensive care unit, Neuro-step-down unit, and Neuro-general care unit.
