Bayfront Institute of Neurosciences Brain Injury Program |
||||||||||||
As a Level II Trauma Center, Bayfront’s commitment does not end with immediate, life-saving treatment. Patients recovering from brain injury often require expert rehabilitation to fully recover from the trauma.
Bayfront’s inpatient and outpatient programs for brain injury have national recognition by the State of Florida, Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Council and by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
A secure brain injury unit within Bayfront’s Rehabilitation Center provides the full range of services required to support patients’ recovery. An important part of brain injury rehabilitation is learning to function once again at home and in the community. Patients spend four to six hours a day in intensive therapy as they move toward independence.
Bayfront offers an outpatient brain injury program, which extends the rehabilitation process for patients once they’ve been discharged from the hospital. Programs are also available for people with minor brain injury to help them learn compensation strategies for short-term or long-term memory deficits.
